Insulate your L2H2 van once and for all, without unpleasant surprises.
The bare metal of a van creates thermal bridges: it radiates cold in winter, stores heat in summer, and encourages condensation—therefore corrosion. This Armaflex AF kit solves the problem with quantities already calculated for an L2H2 body size (Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Renault Master, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Renault Trafic and equivalents, up to approximately 5.40 m). Open the package and install it: everything is included.
What the kit contains
-
Walls and ceiling — choose between 3 rolls of 19 mm Armaflex AF (18 m²) for the standard version, or 4 rolls of 25 mm Armaflex AF (16 m²) for reinforced insulation.
-
Floor, pillars and wheel arches — 1 roll of 10 mm Armaflex AF (10 m²), thinner and more flexible to follow contours.
-
Joints and finishing — 2 rolls of 15 m Armaflex adhesive tape to seal every joint and ensure vapour tightness.
-
Preparation — 1-litre can of Cleaner, enough to degrease the entire interior before bonding.
Why Armaflex AF
Its closed-cell structure blocks water vapour migration (μ ≥ 10,000): the vapour barrier is integrated into the material, so there is no need to add a separate vapour retarder to the walls and ceiling. It offers one of the lowest thermal conductivities for a flexible insulation material (λ ≈ 0.033 W/(m·K)), built-in Microban® anti-mould treatment for the product’s lifetime, a self-extinguishing material and A+ indoor air quality. It does not settle, is unaffected by moisture or mould, and requires no maintenance once installed. 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
19 mm or 25 mm?
19 mm is the market standard for a Campervan: it offers an excellent performance-to-thickness ratio while preserving interior space. 25 mm takes insulation up a level for those who live on board all year round or face extreme cold, at the cost of a few millimetres of interior wall space.
Installation in 4 steps
- Install battens and mechanical fixings first — the Armaflex should sit against them, never be compressed beneath the cladding.
- Degrease the metal with Cleaner, working from top to bottom, on a clean, dry surface.
- Remove the backing film and apply: 19 or 25 mm to the walls and ceiling, and 10 mm to the floor, pillars and wheel arches.
- Seal all joints with adhesive tape — a single exposed spot is enough to create a cold bridge.
