SHADE XL Window - Window for motorhomes - Trucks - Caravans

The SHADE XL Window is the SHADE Top-hung window in large formats: same dark-tinted double glazing, same rounded corners, same ECE R43 approval. Its sizes are designed for motorhomes, caravans and truck campers, not for converted vans. Delivered complete: blackout blind, fly screen and aluminium mounting frame included.

Choosing the right size

The selector shows the interior dimension, i.e. the cut-out to make in the wall.

For a replacement, measure the existing cut-out in the wall, not the visible frame of the old window. Check that no reinforcement, cable or conduit crosses the location, and that no overhead cabinet, storage compartment or curtain obstructs the interior frame. If in doubt, send us a photo and we will confirm.

The outer frame extends 3 cm along each axis (overall dimensions: W + 3 cm × H + 3 cm). The opening is 50° for windows less than 50 cm high and 70° above that, with 3 positions and secure catches.

💡 Good to know: the interior finishing frame is surface-mounted on the wall. It covers the edges of the cut-out without requiring additional space.

Benefits of the SHADE XL window

• Privacy: the dark-tinted glazing (30% light transmission) keeps the interior shielded from prying eyes without making it dark.

What you will need

• Jigsaw and drill driver

Allow approximately 1 hour for installation. For the large formats, plan for two people to position the window in the cut-out and hold it while fastening.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I install it on a panel van conversion?
A: No, these formats exceed the size of panel van walls (approximately 1100 × 550 maximum on an L3H3 or L4H3). For a Campervan, choose the SHADE Top-hung window, available in suitable sizes.

Q: Can I replace an original Motorhome window?
A: Yes, this is the main use for the large formats. Measure the existing cut-out in the wall, then choose the corresponding size. If the cut-out is slightly smaller, it can be enlarged with a jigsaw; if it is larger, choose the next size up.

Q: Is it approved for road use?
A: Yes, ECE R43: installation is authorised without manufacturer approval in Europe, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Compliant with roadworthiness testing.
